Chinese families of MH370 not happy with MAS reply

A group representing family members and relatives of passengers onboard Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 today expressed disappointment with the airlines' reply to their letter last Thursday, saying the answers were "not truthful, contorted, and contradictory".Clad in red t-shirts with the words "Pray for MH370" emblazoned on the back, they say MAS's answers were not within the scope of the questions, and were also not happy that the reply was handed over to them by a low-ranking personnel."Answers were not within the scope of the questions asked and the reply was handed to us by the roadside outside the gates by low ranking MAS employee," said spokesperson Jiang Hui, 41, whose mother Jiang Cui Yui, 70, was among the 239 people onboard flight MH370 which vanished an hour after departing Kuala Lumpur for Beijing on March 8 last year.Jing Hong Xu, whose 65-year-old mother was on the ill-fated flight, insisted that Putrajaya continue the search for the missing jetliner despite news reports saying that the effort could stop by May."We think the plane can be found. I don't know if they will stop in May... (But) We don't want them to stop searching, we are worried about this (latest development)."Jing said she will be flying back to China tomorrow, but other family members are expected to stay in Malaysia until March 10. More are also expected to arrive on March 6, two days before the first anniversary of MH370 tragedy.
Relatives of Chinese passengers on board the missing flight MH370 outline their demands to the airline at a news conference today. – Reuters pic, February 20, 2015.In their letter to MAS and aircraft maker Boeing on February 12, they demanded to know the facts of the incident and documents proving that the flight lost contact or wrecked.They also wanted written documents on the research done, investigations and technical data of the working plan or results obtained since the plane went missing.At the same time, the next-of-kin demanded for an engagement with the company hired to conduct the probe, and highlighted their plan to engage experts to conduct their own research with the cost borne by either MAS, Boeing or other related parties.The said that in response, MAS only stated well-known facts of the incident which had been addressed comprehensively by the Department of Civil Aviation last month.Other answers included on the number of assets, experts and areas covered in the search mission.Transport Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai was reported today to have instructed MAS to address the demands raised by the families.Liow said despite the group not notifying the government of their intention to come to Malaysia, Putrajaya would still look into their demands.Yesterday, the group gathered in front of the MCA headquarters in Kuala Lumpur during the party's Chinese New Year open house, hoping to meet top leaders attending the event. They were, however, not allowed into the premise.The group was in Putrajaya on Wednesday to deliver Chinese calligraphy scrolls to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, and urged for their relatives' return. Najib's special officer met the group on his behalf.The families arrived in Malaysia last Wednesday to protest Putrajaya's declaration that the plane was lost in an accident.On January 29, Malaysia declared that flight MH370 was lost in an accident, killing all 239 passengers and crew members on board. – February 20, 2015.
